Cheryl looked at this picture among many after our participation in the Sunflower Rev it up for Parkinson’s on September 12, 2021.
She said, “There’s Dan and there’s Ken but who is that other guy?” I responded that other guy is me. I am standing next to her wearing the same clothes. I was not wearing my hat. I was challenging. I did not intend to tread on her heart. I asked quietly do you not know who I am? I could see she was unsure.
For a minute she had trod on my heart. We have been married fifty-one years. She has spent more time with me than either of the other two men in this picture and yet could not identify her own husband.
It is fascinating to see what this disease of Parkinson is doing to her cognition and memory. It is sad to see what this disease of Parkinson is doing to her cognition and memory.
How much longer is this road?
